Desktop Wallpaper: What it means to me

There has been much discussion on many sites about wallpaper: such as moderating , the do's and don'ts of creating , ratings , is it art or not and download count, just to name a few. But has anyone asked, What does wallpaper mean to you? How often is wallpaper displayed on your desktop or do you collect wallpaper as someone would collect Beanie Babies, keeping them in a special folder for viewing.
As for what wallpaper means to me, it is a way to give something of myself by creating a graphic image that may bring a smile, a little sunshine and sometimes some laughter into peoples lives. It is also a way for me to collect some of the most creative, interesting, beautiful and visually appealing artwork there is today.
So tell me, what does desktop wallpaper mean to you?

Wallpaper is that clear space kept black to make keeping track of what few icons are there easier. I rarely see my desktop, so having a pretty wallpaper is of no value. On the other hand, I do have pretty pictures for when I want to see them. In theory any of them could be a wallpaper, but in practice that's not how I use them. They sit in their corner waiting for my viewing pleasure.

Thank you Danny B, I really appreciate your commenting! For the most part, I also keep the desktop a solid color like a gray, much easier to work on for me. But I do have lots of favorite wallpaper from various artists, which if I am not working, I will put up just to view them.

I have wallmaster pro....so my wallpaper is rotated out every 2 minutes. Myself, I tend to download the wallpaper associated with the pc game(s) I am playing at the moment, but lately, I have been downloading pretty much every fantasy wallpaper I can find....that and taking screenshots of EQ2 and using that as wallpaper. I have well over 200 wallpaper on my pc....ranging from Lord of the Rings to EQ2 to D&D to Kohan and Warlords.....

I personally love the pictures (especially pictures of fantasy women!!!).
