The strange burn out looking area when I right click to open something on my desktop, just started happening.  Well one time last week, then now.

Thank you for any answers, I have to Tink sit, so will be gone till tomorrow.

I was referring to the SD app "Rightclick". It might be that since it hasn't been updated in a while, there might be an incompatibility.

Barb, if you have Rightclick installed, try uninstalling it through Impulse, and then rebooting. If it's not that, you can always reinstall it.

You might also look to see if your graphics drivers are up to date.

I haven't any idea what might be causing it but a good starting point is verify that you have all current updates (Windows, drivers, etc.), then run whatever security/anti-virus software that you have loaded.

If the problem is still there try to remember when it first showed up and restore you computer to a date before that.  If that does clear it up then maybe it's a hardware problem.

This may sound like a silly question but does the spot only show up in a certain spot on the monitor?  In others words it makes a difference or it doesn't where you right click.

Last question, have you let anyone use your computer?

Doc, I actually typed out RC and then removed it.  It was too painful.

That is really bizarre teddybearcholla. It reminds me of a watermark. Also, what an out of the ordinary place. Best of luck with that.  Could it have something to do with your art software. One Wrong click and it's watemarkville for us?  Well, I'm curious to.

And Doc....Right, the right click app. I don't use one so..... forgot.

....No and no.... and not Rightclick, I still have it but never use it...same with ObjectDock....   I just can't get used to all that stuff on my *work area* I guess!!

It just began last week, actually only happened once last week, then yesterday. When I rebooted it was gone.  I just came home for awhile and turned Zoe on and everything is fine.

Philly, it was anyplace on my desktop, whatever icon I clicked on , that burned area showed up.  But like I said, when I rebooted it was gone, same thing last week.

When I was in Italy, my sister used it to check her email and bank stuff. That was 4 weeks ago.

Everything is current on here, anti-virus is always on and I run it once a week, Malwarebytes I run everyday also IObit.

I was thinking about this last night, and wondering if perhaps it could be my monitor.

About the system restore...I haven't made a restore point for a long time...I know not a good thing.

haven't made a restore point for a long time...

As long as System Restore is turned on, Windows makes them for you before almost every MS update.

Try this:  Start, All Programs, Accessories, right-click Command Prompt and click Run as Administrator.

Type:

sfc /scannow

I don't think it's your monitor because it happens only on right clicking and anywhere on the screen. Seems then if it is a hardware thing it would be your graphics/ video card. Maybe send Yrag a pm?

teddybearcholla yeah sometimes I forget to make restore points also.  I think Wizard is correct about the system creating restore points when you do updates.
Try his other suggestion also, it might find something.

My guess would be your Video Card is on it's way out.

Do you use effects in Cursor FX on right click? Thinking possibly an effect gone bad? If so, try unloading Cursor FX.
