Bobbi passed away tonight, in the gentle and loving care of our local veterinarian. She was our eight year old Japanese bobtail, white with orange markings, a small cat. She had "found" me, when I was cleaning an apartment, in what they call an apartment complex. I went to the office to see if they knew whose cat it was. The woman said that someone had moved and just left her to her own devices, and she had been living off the generosity of anyone who would feed her. Well I asked if I could take her home, of course the answer was yes. Well we already had three cats, so what's one more! We also had two dogs which she basically ignored and after awhile, all four cats got along quite nicely.
One evening a friend of ours came to visit and she brought her dog Jeremy, a greyhound. Jeremy wasn't anymore than ten feet inside our house, when there was this white and orange flash, and there was Bobbi, hanging from Jeremys nose and lips, her claws embedded in the poor dog. It wasn't anything Jeremy had done, and the two of them had met before, so we had no idea what was going on . Well as it turns out, Bobbi was pregnant and she just viewed Jeremy as a threat. (Oh yes, Jeremy was fine, he was just frightened).
Bobbi had two very tiny kittens in our closet. One with a tail and one without. We still have those two, now grown up. The one with a tail, is Fred. He is mostly white with some orange markings. His length from nose to tail tip, about 2and1/2 to 3 ft long. He's a "big boy"! His sister, Wilma, is a calico with no tail and she is tiny like her mother.
Up until a few days ago, Bobbi had been fine. Then one evening she didn't eat. All our cats receive some canned cat food in the morning and evening. And she had the wobblies, she couldn't walk straight. The next morning she didn't eat either, and was still walking funny and acting strange. So I took her in to see Dr. Wood. This was on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004. Dr. Wood, exrayed her, did blood work, checked for feline leuk, etc. and came up with nothing out of the ordinary. But her body temp was low, and so they kept her on a heating pad. They gave her fluids and lots of love. I was going to pick her up tomorrow and bring her home, but Dr. Wood called a while ago, and said that Bobbi had passed away. I will still pick Bobbi up,bring her home and bury her in the garden. Thanks for the memories, Bobbi!

We are very sorry to hear about that. Bobbie was a cool cat. She loved to be petted and I did when I could. It shocked me to hear that Bobbie passed away. We are happy you brought her home to be near family. I know Nancy can make a good box to bury her in. Our Cat Bright eyes passed away not long ago. I new that morning that look she gave me, it was like a look of, well today is the day and Im saying good bye and I love you. She had been suffering a while of old age. I had already had one put down who had Luke. But I could not do that again ever.. so I just let her go naturally. I just didnt really no what to do but I couldnt put another one down. I made a wooden box for her , put her in her bed and put it in the box and sealed it and put a paper in the box with her picture on it stating who she was and buried her. If I ever move I will take her with me. Sorry Barb for you Loss.

Hi Barb, Sorry about your loss of Bobbie. I didn't know her, but whenever a pet dies it is heartbreaking. they become really as important as family, and I'm glad you decided to bring her home again. When we had to put our dog, Danny, to sleep, we did the same thing....He is resting in our back yard.

Thanks so much Bert, and yes they seem to wiggle their way into becoming family members. Only unlike people they don't get angry with you, or stop loving you, they just want to be your friend/companion. Thanks again, Bert

I know what it's like. I just recently lost my Mitchael after 18 years. He was THE Halloween cat, as black as ink. As far as personality, he was the most loving, gentlest cat I've ever had the pleasure of touching. Gawd, I miss him so much. I still see flashes if black occasionally.
