How many of you have met someone in person, that you only knew through the internet?
Well I had the pleasure of meeting just such a person when I was visiting my family in Wisconsin, last month. One day my sister was reading the local newspaper, and on the front page was a picture of a fractal by Tom Wilcox. I had been trying to explain fractals and flames to her, with only limited success. Inside the newspaper, was an excellent article on Tom and his artwork, plus his phone number! And he lived only a couple of miles from my Moms' home. Well I called him and left a message on his answering machine and about 20 minutes later he returned the call. I asked him if my sister and I could come and see his artwork and he said sure. We were at his home for almost 2 hours talking about fractals, the best way to print your own artwork, where on the web, to find precut matboard, backing, etc. I also enjoyed or I should say drooled over Toms' monitor. It is large, I don't remember the size, but the unique thing about it, is that it will turn, so it is tall, I hope that makes sense LOL! Another words it is not a square monitor, that's better! It was a very informative and enjoyable visit. Tom is at deviantart under Tom Wilcox. I joined that site also, under teddybearcholla. I figured that is the best way to keep track of Toms' artworks!
