Has anyone seen the newest Geico adds, the geckos' accent seems to be Australian. On one add he talks about pie and chips. I think chips are french fries, but what is the "pie" he's talking about? Just a crazy question for a Wednesday!!!

"The Australian meat pie, beef and gravy in a shortcrust piecase, often with a flakey top, has an iconic cultural status, being held to be the Australian National Food".

Contents are usually regarded as dubious, but no more so than a hotdog from a roadside vendor

Thanks for the link Chris TH.... seems there is an Australian pie company called Four'N'Twenty...brings to mind the nursery rhyme..."4 and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie"... food for thought there!!!

I've had a "pork pie" I assume since it was an "English" friend of mine that made it, it was European...."meat pie"... btw, it was really good!

brings to mind the nursery rhyme.

Since I have my doubts about marketing types, it's probably a total concidence!

As you might have read in the Wiki, some instances only barely qualify for the 'meat' portion of the name - 'fat' pie is probably more accurate

Any Aussie pie has more meat 'content' than that poor excuse for a steak I had in Paris 30 years ago....

"How did you find your steak, sir?"

"I moved 2 peas and there it was."

Seriously...if it were thicker I would have put a stamp on it and sent it back to the chef....airmail....

Nuveau Quisine?  Overpriced food for wankers.....
